Ballard Locks Engagement | Tara + Brian

I spent a beautiful, spring-like afternoon in mid-February photographing Tara and Brian in the neighborhood where they first became engaged, Ballard. We started out at the Ballard Locks where the light from the setting sun, and the company of strangers having fun made for a carefree session. It’s clear right away that Tara and Brian have a terrific connection and share a fun-loving, outgoing personality. As the light began to fade we headed to Old Ballard, where the aged bricks, crawling ivy and flaking paint lend to the retro vibe of the neighborhood. I’m hoping this set of photos captures the character of the place as well as the spirit of Tara and Brian’s relationship. What do you think? –Andy

Hey there, a beautiful collection of urban shots – well done! I’m wondering if your window reflection ones towards the end were taken through a window, or on the outside of the window with the couple. Beautiful work!

Thanks! Those photos were actually shot through two different panes of glass, at 90 degrees to each other. It’s an oddly configured display window. They’re looking into the display, and I’m on the other side of it shooting through…but still outside with them. :o)
