Former employees and supporters of the Seattle Post-Intelligencer gathered last night at Town Hall Seattle for a final tribute to the newspaper, which ceased publication on March 17 after 146 years. Folk singer Heidi Muller performed her original song, “Goodnight, P-I” (see video above) and various P-I employees including editorial cartoonist David Horsey and sports writer Art Thiel told stories about their careers there. It was a nice retrospective that focused on the great value that a daily paper’s investigative reporting and local news reporting has in people’s lives. The question left hanging: who will provide this service if all the newspapers are gone? –Andy Rogers
