Welcome to the blog. We’re getting this thing rolling so that our clients, friends and family can keep an eye on what we’re up to as we forge ahead on our new adventure. Red Box Pictures is a new photography studio in Seattle founded by four former Seattle Post-Intelligencer photographers shortly after the paper closed in March. We decided to go into business together for a bunch of reasons, but one of the biggest was to preserve some of the great camaraderie we shared as members of a newspaper staff.
So far, it has been a lot of fun. We just moved into a studio space in Lower Queen Anne, right across the street from the Seattle P-I’s spinning globe. We launched our two web sites this week, one for commercial clients and one to showcase our wedding work, at www.redboxpictures.com. Now the blog is online. Things are moving along nicely. We’re meeting lots of new people and the work is starting to come in. It’s going to be a successful year, despite the odds stacked against us. Thanks for visiting, and we look forward to having you along for the ride ahead. — Andy, Dan, Rob and Scott
Congratulations to you all! Bruce and I wish you all the very best, both professionally and personally with your new enterprise!
Good luck guys! Leaving the newspaper world is a big shift. After 6 years at dailys I left last year, to get ahead of all of the layoffs. Learning how to stay in business has been a steep learning curve and a total shift of my thought process.
Best,
Lucas
Congrats on the new biz — glad to see all of your work and be able to send students to the site to see great stuff. There is life after news — longer lines to get into cool events — but there is life.
All the best,
Peg (KING-5 alum!)
